MAKING THE MOVIE-2

We had another project on making a movie. But this time we did not need to follow a theme the teacher told us, we got to figure out one that he would approve. My groupmates we the same people, which was us 7th graders in the graphic arts class. After the teacher told us what to do and the rules, we went straight to work on figuring out the theme of our short movie. This first part of amking a movie was not really difficult, but we had some disagreements on the theme. After a few mintutes we put some ideas down and showed it to the teacher to approve and he chose bullying. The next day in class we had to start working on our script. Doing the script was kind of difficult because we had to choose characters, where the scene is going to take place, what the characters are going to say, and all the other movie making things. After working opn the script for about a week, we had to show it to the teacher to approve. He approved our script and said we would start filming the next week. After getting the script approved we had to check if the people we needed for the characters are available from other electives. Luckily, the teachers said we could borrow them from their classes and the students also said okay. But the only thing is that we only could borrow them for awhile because they would have to practice for their performances. We were able to film everything needed for the movie in less than a week. It was actually very fun woking on the filming, but also challenging because sometimes we mess up on the filming or the character doesn’t know what to do. These challenges rarely happened because we gave the characters their scripts to memorize and they did. When we were actually done with the filming we had to start editing the next week. So, basically we had a week for doing each on of these steps. The editing was really fun. We got to see our mistakes and all the things we did good in the movie. It was way easier than the first time we did a movie because we knew about imovie and garage band more better. We had less diagreements and we were able to finish and still have fun working with making the movie. Finally when everything was finished, our movie was one of the movies that was presented at the performing arts concert. It was fun watching out movie, we laughed and saw some of our mistakes. But overall movie making is very intresting and you would really enjoy it because it is fun too!

St. John’s Summer School Animation Banner

AFTER WATCHING THE MOVIE

After watching the short movie about video taping or taking pictures, I learned so much on what not to do when you are filming a movie, like disturbing backgrounds..etc. Some of the things I watched on the movie, I knew about them already, but I learned a little more about them. My favorite clip from the movie that I learned about was the reaction shot. I liked the clip because it made me laugh and I learned the right way of taking reaction shots.

MAKING THE MOVIE

The latest project we have done is to make a movie. We were each divided into groups depending on our grade level. The group I was in, was with Clarissa, You Rong, and Daniel.

The first thing we had to do was to choose a topic that must have a theme that goes with  St. Johns School Brings Out the Best. The group decided to go with St. Johns Brings Out the Best In Sports. The challenge we had in this was how we were going to show that St. Johns Brings Out the Best In Sports.

After we chose our topic, we had to create a story board. To do this we needed some time to arrange when this would happen, how we were going to film it, and what would be said and so on. We decided to show that St. Johns brings out the best in sports by showing that we are good in playing soccer and basketball.  We had to also decide how many players would there be, what they would do and how they would do it. The challenge was deciding how the players would do this and that. When we were finally done we had to get our approval from Mr. Maiquez.

When we got our approval from Mr.Maiquez, we had to start filming the movie. It took a while for this to be complete because we had to look for people to be the players. Looking for players was also the challenge because we had to try filming during graphic arts class, so that means the people we need help from would also be in their classes and we were able to get the people we needed for the movie. The filming went right, but everything was different from how we planned it on the story board.

After the filming, we had to edit the videos on imovie on the apple laptops. It was kind of challenging, when we were editing because we had to combine all the videos we took and add more details to the movie too. When we were done we had to get an approval from  Mr. Maiquez in order to move on to adding the music and the voice. So when we went on to making the music, it was the most challenging thing to do in the entire assignment. It was challenging beacause we had to make it match the movie, make it sound good and make it long enough to fit the movie. For this, it took us a couple of tries to get Mr. Maiquez approval.

At the end, we watched the final products and we learned all our mistakes. We learned what to do and what not to do to our movies. Overall, making movies is a hard job, but could also be fun!

St. John’s Poster!

The latest project I did was to make a poster/banner for St. John’s School. It was simple. I got pictures from google and from the St. John’s website. I cut out some pictures to put in my poster and added words to go with them. …..So here it is!

COLLAGE

The next project I did on the Gimp is a collage about some foods and drinks. On this collage, I used different types of shapes and sizes unlike my two other previos ones I did with the squares. As you see this is not my first time doing this type of collage. It was really simple to do.
